tagged thoughts
My thoughts this week have been tagged by Feisty Female, the constantly curious and lovely, Beverley Merriman.
Word for the week in my head: Money… the lack of it, the need for it, the love of it, the hope for it, the stress of it, the pursuit of it, the loss of it, the acquisition of it, the freedom that comes with the having of it, and such.
Thought for the week in my head: Money is the God of the present age… and ‘don’t thank me, pay me, honey’.
Thing for the week in my life: to pay attention to hopeful things when they cross my path. In particular, things like rich people who are humble, clever people who are silly, happy people who don’t gush, young people who care, old people who are positive, poor people who don’t litter, sad people who don’t whine, and ignorant people who don’t vote.
Song for the week in my head: Hand In My Pocket by Alanis Morisette.
I’m broke but I’m happy, I’m poor but I’m kind, I’m short but I’m healthy.
I’m high but I’m grounded, I’m sane but I’m overwhelmed, I’m lost but I’m hopeful, baby.
I feel drunk but I’m sober, I’m young and I’m underpaid, I’m tired but I’m working.
I care but I’m restless, I’m here but I’m really gone, I’m wrong and I’m sorry, baby.
I’m free but I’m focused, I’m green but I’m wise, I’m hard but I’m friendly.
I’m sad but I’m laughing, I’m brave but I’m chickenshit, I’m sick but I’m pretty, baby.
Food for the week in my belly: Tobacco and caffeine. (Is it okay that this isn’t food?)
Colour for the week in my life: Green. Money is generally known to be green, the environment is green, green living is green, the thought of a whole week ahead of me makes me feel a bit green, the lawn is green after all this rain, green is the new black, and my eyes are… green.
Smile for the week on my face is: the silly season is looming large, and family will be arriving from Switzerland soon. Whoop. Also, I’m looking forward to painting my house… it’s like meditation… wax on, wax off, you know.
Blessing for the week in my heart: May the road not rise to meet your face… and may the winds of change not blow you down a very steep slope up which you cannot climb.
Tagging: Bill, Max, Mich, Sarah, Susan, Jeff, and Anne
(Note to Anne… would you get a blog, already? Please?)
Update: Anne did it! Her blog is here. Whoop.

Johns last blog post..SPLASH!
Just remember that money can’t buy happiness…
But it sure can rent one helluva good time.
(the only miserable millionaires I know are not miserable BECAUSE they have money)

What rooms are you painting? Colours???
If you need help, I’m still good with a roller.
Hope the gang makes it there safely and you have a great Holiday.

Coolness, Anne… I’m holding you to that. You have no idea how irritating I can be when I want someone to do something. So get to it, girlie
Hi John, I agree that Sarah is great… and have also wondered where she’s been hiding lately… any clues?
Thanks Jim. I guess that money doesn’t really matter to people who have it… but it matters a lot to people who don’t. And thanks for the offer… but we’re on it
It’s official, this has now become my favourite blog! (You know, the one you read first, or at least the one you read before you click “mark all as read” in Google Reader.
Great post, great thoughts, great inspiration, and oh so funny!

Yay! Thanks so much Bev
Candy … it’s as if you’ve lit a fire under my ass … however, I can be very irritating in the way that I will procrastinate until the very edge of FOREVER!!! before I will do the very next best thing that I should have been doing all a long.
Maybe that’s what I’ll name my blog … The Very Next Best Thing [I Should Have Been Doing All Along].
Let me stew on that for three months or so!
another great post

Hi Dave: No, I don’t have Paypal. Can you believe that South Africans aren’t allowed to open Paypal accounts? Discrimination, I tell you! But you can send me a cheque

Hey Suzy, your first tag, ever? Can’t wait to read your thoughts for the week.
Happiness ANNE! How diligent are you, babe? You’ve made me very proud… going over to anzrant immediately… to do a happy dance
